Chris Lightly and 50 Cent
OMG! I was deeply saddened this morning when Mediatakeout flashed a breaking news headline revealing the death of Chris Lightly. This time mediatakeout.com remained cordial and out of respect for the family they did not release any details. However, moments later, while strolling fb, I noticed that Necolebitchie's status read "So sad. 2nd Hip Hop Music executive to take his life in the past four years". This status was posted with the article, Manager Chris Lightly Dies In An Apparent Suicide.
Necolebitchie reports,
Chris Lighty may not be a household name, but the artists he helped rise to the spotlight like 50 Cent, Q-Tip, Diddy, Foxy Brown, Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, and Missy Elliot definitely are. The Bronx native is the man behind Violater Records and Management, and it’s with heavy hearts that we share that he has passed away.According to reports, he was found dead in his Bronx apartment from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Earlier today, he was involved in a spat with his ex-wife at his South Riverdale apartment and law enforcement sources also believe he was dealing with financial struggles, including a $5 million tax debt to the IRS.
When he first started in the music industry, Chris work alongside DJ Red Alert and moved on to working as a road manager for Boogie Down Productions. Later, he worked with groups like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and The Jungle Brothers, and worked with Russell Simmons RUSH Management company before forming Violator Management.
The weight of the world is often times, way too heavy to handle. Many of us forget that we don't have to bare anything alone. The saddest thing about this story is the fact that he had all of this status, and all of these celebrity friends; yet he felt whatever burdened him was so bad that he would rather take his life. My heart goes out to his family. The truth of the matter is, there is no coming back from death; So please people lets all remember that nothing in life should haunt you that bad, that you would take your own life. I pray that his soul rests in peace.
Another tragic & inconceivable loss for the culture.
cant believe my big homie is gone!
